Learn the glamorous art of Burlesque Striptease from one of the original pioneers and queens of UK Burlesque – Stella Starr, director of the legendary VAVAVAVOOM! Burlesque!
An introductory workshop into the wonderful world of Burlesque entertainment. This is a short intensive beginners workshop where we also offer you the chance to learn the basic Burlesque moves, Fan dance techniques, tassel twirling, costume making + vintage hair and makeup tips with demos from the tutors.
It is not necessary to have a dance background to join this course. We will be incorporating elements of Egyptian dance, ballet and jazz/latin dance as well as dance 60′s GoGo, with some group improvisation, which is a lot of fun! We ask all participants to wear a skirt or dress they can move comfortably in + some kind of heels they can comfortably in.
These lessons will encourage the tease element, with some stripping involved, but no nudity! It’s about restoring women’s confidence regarding their body image in a world seemingly obsessed by ‘body fascism’ and plastic surgery! There’s a glamour puss in all of us and we mean to bring it out of you!
Sat 18th September 2010 - Artist Residence, 20 Chapel St, Penzance
